When we say is depression real we don't want to sound ignorant in any way. I think the question we are asking is whether the approach towards depression is always the right approach.
A good example is being in an environment where you cannot thrive, your true values don't align, and being in an environment where you're not getting a sense of achievement or fulfillment.
In this situation, it is completely normal to be in a depressed state. We know that changing your environment is not something you can do at the click of a finger.
The point we are stressing here is that the key act that needs to be made is the change in the environment. Is this the better approach? which is to be fully focused on changing your environment, accepting that you are depressed because of your environment but never really classifying yourself as depressed. Is this a better way to move forward?
In this particular situation, is diagnosing yourself with depression really serving you justice?
We live in a world where being happy is glamorised and promoted and unfortunately, there is even pressure to be happy. Unfortunately this results in a lot of people appearing to be happy, appearing to be financially stable, and appearing to have a strong network.
The huge issue with this is that being happy, being financially stable, and having deep, meaningful connections are becoming more distant at the small reward of maybe impressing a small number of people.
